Tides along the Exmoor Coast in the Bristol Channel are some of the fiercest in the world with heights of 15m common and great care is required by visiting yachtsmen.  Bathers should also heed any warnings given at the various beaches along the coast. Some beaches are almost fully covered by high spring tides.

Surfing is very popular on the beaches just west of Exmoor - at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands.  
Please pay attention to the beach Life Guards if present.
